Doddridge Centre in Northampton

Aims

To provide information, advice and support to people affected by HIV in Northamptonshire and work in the community to raise awareness and understanding of HIV and the challenges it presents.

Objectives

  • To provide information and other publicity material on sexual health
  • To provide condoms and other material on safer sex practices
  • To support clients by offering home and hospital visits
  • To provide regular support & follow up meetings
  • To liaise with other agencies, including referrals for other services such as testing and treatment
  • To encourage group discussions on STI's and HIV related issues by way of regularly held support groups
  • To provide a safe social space for developing peer support and networks
  • To offer massage, yoga, and other complimentary therapies
  • To arrange workshops and educational seminars on areas of interest
  • To provide training in behaviour change models as well as
    sexual & reproductive health issues
  • To provide training of young adults as peer educators within
    their communities
  • To recruit, train and support community volunteers to provide
    appropriate & ongoing support to local communities
